It’s hard to miss the Tuckabox along Opal Creek Boulevard. Drop in for a pint and some of the largest most majestic miners meals available in the Outback!

At 14 years old and after 3 months at sea, sailing from Greece to Australia Steve landed a job as a cook and dishwasher in Kings Cross, Sydney.

The original Tuckabox Restaurant was built in 1960 and sold again in 1962 to an enterprising Steve Smirnios from Sydney who bought the site after looking at a set of photos.

In 1987, Steve expanded and build a ‘new’ Tuckabox using volcanic rock. This expansion took 2.5 years to complete.
