Leila and Conan were honoured to attend a special celebration on Sunday, September 1st, as Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) proudly marked the 10th anniversary of the Kokatha Native Title Consent Determination. The event occurred at the same claypan on Andamooka Station near Roxby Downs, where the Federal Court first recognised Kokatha’s Native Title in 2014.

Around 200 attendees gathered to commemorate this milestone, including Kokatha Elders, KAC Directors, Culture and Heritage Committee members, community members, friends, and stakeholders. Members of the original Kokatha Management Committee and Kokatha Elders shared stories of the long journey to achieve land rights recognition, honouring the Elders who paved the way.

The event was enriched by generous catering from ISS and the Kokatha Pastoral team, who delighted everyone with desserts featuring native ingredients like lemon myrtle, quandong, and wattle seed. The celebration continued after lunch with cultural dancers performing inma while community members prepared malu and malu wipu in the sandhills.
