October 21st, 2023 marked the third year in a row Andamooka Observatory has hosted the International Observe the Moon Night.
International Observe the Moon Night is an annual worldwide public engagement program that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of our Moon and its connection
to NASA planetary science and exploration. Everyone on Earth is invited to join the celebration by attending an event.
The Andamooka Observatory hosted International Observe the Moon Night on Saturday 21st October, we had over 110 enthusiastic guests attend.
Our guest astronomer PK is in Andamooka again for a week doing public daytime solar and nighttime stellar and planetary viewing at the Andamooka Observatory. PK Imaging will also be hosting a Solar Astronomy Session at the Roxby Downs WORLD FOOD + MUSIC FESTIVAL on Saturday 28th Oct from 3 pm
PK first visited us in August 2017 as part of Andamooka Science Week Stargazing Sleep Over with the Southern Cross Outreach Observatory Project’s mobile astronomical observatory and has been a regular visitor to Andamooka ever since.
PK Imaging’s DEEP SPACE THEATRE kit
+Common equipment: iOptron CEM70G mount, SharpCap video control, Stellarium mount control, and 4K projector.
+Deep space setup: RASA 8″ f/2 telescope, Asi183mc camera, Canon 750 dSLR for live wide-field imaging, and remote control laser pointer.
+Solar system setup: SKYMAX 180mm f/15 telescope + 2.5x Powermate for f/37.5 focal ratio and 6.75 metre focal length, and Asi183mc camera.
+Sun setup: a Lunt 60mm Hydrogen Alpha telescope and a William Optics Gran Turismo 71mm telescope with a Calcium-K filter and an Asi178mm camera in each telescope.
