We recently welcomed the RAAF Woomera Commanding Officer, personnel from 20 Squadron and Air Force Training Squadron, and Defence representatives for a site visit to the Andamooka Airstrip. The visit highlighted the airstrip’s vital role in supporting Royal Flying Doctor Service access, emergency response, and safe regional aviation operations.
The delegation also spent time in the township, gaining firsthand insight into Andamooka’s opal heritage, creative spaces, and the living opal industry that continues to shape our community.
The visit reinforced Andamooka’s importance within the regional aviation network and the value of collaboration between Defence and remote communities across Outback SA.
