BHP Olympic Dam Asset President Dr Jennifer Purdie came over to Andamooka for a Opal Mining 101 tour. Leila and Bec ( Woomera Baker Observatory) showed Dr Purdie and Essie around visiting the opalsied baby Andamooka Plesiosaur ‘Karkaroo’ and opal displays at the Andamooka Opal Showroom Underground Opal & Mineral Museum, the Andamooka Observatory Art Space, the ‘Andamooka Tiger’ at Cal the Stoner’s Stone Masonry Studio, the Historic Cottages, checked out more opal with Rob at the Andamooka Liquor Store and a solid noodling session on One Tree Hill, finding some very nice painted ladies and matrix along the way. Dr Purdie has more than 30 years of global management and leadership experience, most recently as the Executive General Manager Gas Distribution with energy company Jemena. She has previously held senior leadership positions across energy, transport and mining companies Adani Renewables, Rio Tinto, Alcoa and Aurizon.
