Kick of reconciliation week with a free short film showcase that shares and celebrates First Nations culture, stories, and language, through film.
Nunga Screen features an entertaining program of independent short films for all ages featuring films by emerging more established filmmakers.
The Nunga Screen program includes a range of films from different genres. This year’s program includes a film called ‘Jarli’.
‘Jarli’ lives with her family in a remote community in Australia and dreams of being the first person to travel to other worlds in our solar system. Across the world and throughout time, people have looked up at the night sky and asked big questions about existence, the origins of everything, and what we might find beyond the stars.
By weaving together stories from Indigenous astronomy with stories from science, ‘Jarli’ is a unique meeting place and communication between cultures – an adventure that spans traditional knowledge and sci-fi.
