Andamooka has achieved finalist status as part of the new Top Tourism Town program. Andamooka was nominated for the SA Top Tourism Town by the Roxby Downs Visitors Information Centre. Olympia and Roman came up to Andamooka for 5 nights of feasting, stargazing, nightmining, relaxing and exploring. Olympia is an artist who recently had a exhibition in Sydney and Roman is the owner of Climate Proof Foods. We went opal mining at White Dam, One Tree Hill, German Gully, visited Karkaroo: the opalsied baby Andamooka Plesiosaur’ and opal displays at the Andamooka Opal Showroom Underground Opal & Mineral Museum, the Lapidary Club Workshop, Cal the Stoner, Mary Ames Art Studio, and our German Gully Opal Mine (Andamooka Mars Simulation Camp).
Olympia and Roman stayed at Dukes Bottlehouse Motel and feasted and hydrated with us. Mary, Cal and Leila introduced Olympia to the Andamooka Arts Community. Olympia bought Leila’s Belemnites inspired earrings from the Andamooka Observatory Art Space.
