Dimensions & Medium: The original piece measures 1900 mm x 1200 mm and was created using mixed media.
Subject Matter: The work is inspired by the Opallionectes andamookaensis, an ancient marine reptile (plesiosaur) that lived in the Eromanga Sea roughly 115 million years ago. Its name literally translates to “the opal swimmer from Andamooka”.
Location: The “Opal Swimmer” is currently on display at the Andamooka Opal Showroom Underground Opal & Mineral Museum.
Media Appearance: The artwork gained broader recognition after appearing on the television series Outback Opal Hunters featuring the “Mooka Boys”
